Have been waiting for the Bee-eaters to turn up and have finally got a couple
of records for this week:
Heard birds flying high over Store Creek at Cocoparra NP on Saturday 22nd
(White-winged Trillers and Rufous Songlarks were present in the car park but
they have been apparently present for a reasonable while). Went to the Painted
Honeyeater site on Binya Stock Route - none present, but single Black-eared
Cuckoo and White-fronted Honeyeaters were calling
Saw a single Bee-eater on the road east of Scotia Sanctuary (between Broken
Hill and Wentworth) today. Other birds at Scotia were hybrid
Black-eared/Yellow-throated Miners, Gilbert's Whistler, Chestnut Quail-thrush
and Shy Heathwren amongst the usual mallee birds.
