Yokelin and Norman in a park in Guangzhou, Nov 2002

This was taken by Fangzhen Lin, a logician at the Hong Kong University of Science and Technology, who arranged our visit to Zhongshan University, the leading university in Guangdong province. This university was named after the father of the modern Chinese republic, Dr Sun Yat Sen. His statue adorns the center of the campus, a beautiful blend of ancient and modern Chinese architecture. Quaintly, the Cantonese superstition of Feng Shui is alive and well in this campus. The front entrance of the Institute of Cognitive Science where Norman gave his lecture is closed; entry is by a side door. Reason: bad feng shui at the front.
