This was an extraordinary year for Aust birding for me, thanks to a
judicious combination of work and holiday, so just a couple of 'categories'
highlights.

BEST 'SHARED' BIRDING. Getting prolonged close-up views of Blue-faced
Parrot-finch for 18 people on Mt Lewis. One person wept with the emotion of it!

BEST NEW BIRDS. Gouldian Finch and Hooded Parrot in one field of binocular
view near Katherine.
Rufous-crowned Emu-wren in West McDonnells.
Eyrean Grass-wrens playing at being ping-pong balls on a stunning red sand
dune on the Andado track in SE NT.

BEST 'STATISTIC' BIRDS (for want of a better term!!!). Completing my 'sets'
of Australian Emu-wrens and Thornbills.
Seeing all Aust Fairy-wren spp in the year.

And of course, Birding-aus - many thanks Russell!!!!!!!!!!!!! And to all of
you who make it what it is.

Cheers

Ian
