First Common terns

Hello everyone,

I know I must sound like a cracked record, but gee I get excited
about migration. I get more thrill out of the first migrants of the
season than out of a new bird.

Anyway, yesterday Barb Dickson & I did our usual tern survey on the
Caloundra sandbanks, and saw our first Common Terns of the season.
There were only three of them, but I think this is the first time I
have seen one here in breeding plumage.

No bands, no flags, but a shocker of a  north wind. The scopes were
shaking like leaves.
