g'day all,
Yesterday afternoon I was at the north end of town with a half an
hour to spare to give my dog a run along the road to the Sewage
Ponds.
I stopped as usual where the outflow to the Leichhardt River runs
under the road to have a look at what Crakes, Rails and waders may
be in view.
Without getting out of the car, this time something new !
65m away a male Painted Snipe was sitting in front of the end of a
18" (45cm) concrete pipe.
It was perfectly framed for me to take several photos.

Stupidly and greedily, I tried to get close-ups. But flew off when I
was 25m from it.

Regards, Bob Forsyth, Mount Isa, NW Qld.
ps The dog was again buzzed again by the angry Black-faced
Woodswallow. This time the bird was just missing him.
