Hi John,

I looked up my Pigeons & Doves: A Guide to the Pigeons and Doves of the
World (2003) and it states M. a. doreya as the ssp found on the Aru Is. M.
a. keyensis seems confined to the Kai Is.

Clements (2007) and the latest Howard & Moore both mention this ssp living
on 'W Papuan islands', which I suspect encompasses the Aru Is.

Cheers

Hi all,

Can anyone tell what subspecies of Slender-billed Cuckoo-Dove Macropygia
amboinensis breeds on the Aru Islands.

No recent subspecies lists (e.g.Dickinson(2003), Clements(2007), Peters
(1937) mention Aru Islands. Salvadori (1893), includes Aru Islands in the
distribution of M.a.doreya. But in zoogeographical terms, it could be
M.a.keyensis of the Kai Islands.

Thanks,

John Penhallurick
