Hi All

Had a fantastic encounter with a Rufous Owl tonight. A single bird has started calling since the rains a week ago. Tonight I imitated the bird and it came and sat on the fence within 1m of me. It is not shy in the least. It was particularly interesting that as it approached me through the trees gradually making its way closer, it dropped its wings and slouched until it was on the fence. It then took a more upright posture and stared at me as I made its call. We actually live at Conway which is about 1/2 hour from Airlie and border Conway NP. We have aslo been lucky here to see both LT and WT Nightjar.

Cheers
Dan
