Yes strangely the aspect of deleting an apostrophe in place names is of long
standing habit and used in many official place names. I think it is weird
and regrettable and I suggest a major contributor to the history of the
problem of apostrophe misuse. Unless Ladys means something in its own right
e.g. a person named Ladys, by inserting the s, it is nonsensical. If named
for a Lady it should be Lady's or if it is about more than one lady, it
should be Ladies. Like Batemans Bay, Wisemans Ferry etc. What is a "mans"?
Why wouldn't it be Batemen Bay? Or if it is named for Bateman it should be
Bateman's Bay...........

Yesterday I was at Ladys Pass (note lack of apostrophe) north of Heathcote
in Victoria. I'd noticed some high flying Woodswallows earlier in the day,
but on the way home I passed a flock of about 25 on or near the ground. All
the ones I got a decent look at were White-browed, but I can't guarantee it
wasn't a mixed flock.
