Graduate Developer

Position Description:

Who we are

As a leading, independent, global market-making group, we aim to be the go to price engine for exchange traded products. In order to make the best decisions we need to be continually using technology in innovative ways. Our success is due to our people so we strive to create an environment where people's contributions are valued, where team work is encouraged and where people can work on fresh and interesting challenges every day. We're all about innovation, integrity and genuine passion for what we do.

What you'll do

As a Graduate Developer you'll develop reliable and highly flexible systems in the market. The kind of software that ensures we buy and sell faster and more efficiently than anyone else. You will have full responsibility for the entire SDLC. You'll be responsible for designing and optimising our systems, both technically and functionally to improve our trading success.

What you'll learn

Your on the job training includes:
- A one-on-one mentor who will show you the ins-and-outs of how our trading systems are developed and how they work.
- Options training for non-traders that will give you a great insight into the business. This involves three class-room sessions run by our experienced traders and one simulated trading session where you get to experience what it's like to trade.
- Experience our agile environment by taking part in our annual innovation days
- The 'getting started @ Optiver' exercise. This will give you the information, tools and resources you need to do your job. By the end of your first week, you'll be able to set up a generic Optiver trading environment, from back-end software to GUI client's ongoing modules specific to your team.

The difference with IT at Optiver is how fast the pace is, and the direct impact it has on Trading. Where traditional software development teams can take months or years to build systems from business requirements, we can do hundreds of releases each month with new trading features.
