“When we seek to bring out the best in others we end up bringing out the best in ourselves”

Mentoring gives you the opportunity to:

  • Attend a free training workshop
  • Improve your communication skills
  • Increase self-confidence
  • Develop organisational skills
  • Give something back to the University Community
  • Receive an official University certificate

As a Mentor I understand my responsibilities are:

  1. Attend the O’Week mentoring social event
  2. Organise to meet my mentees in Weeks 1, 3 & 5. If this is not possible, to provide mentoring support via email or telephone
  3. Attend at least one supervision session
  4. Attend the end of program social event in Week 7
  5. Complete the evaluation forms to provide feedback about my experiences of the program
  6. Sustain my mentoring in a positive, consistent and committed manner throughout the duration of the program

I understand my role as a mentor will involve providing social support to first year students and does not involve providing tutoring or counselling or giving academic advice.
