Description: |
Students will design, develop, and test position-beaconing software for mobile phones. Once installed in the mobile phone, the software will frequently transmit the current location of a pedestrian to alert nearby motorists. The development will take place in NOKIA N95 8GB platform. Prior experience in programming GPS and WiFi interfaces of a mobile device (phone/PDA) will be an advantage. The project is suitable for a group of 2 students working together. Students will have the opportunity to be part of a larger initiative targeted at developing safety and commercial wireless communication applications in vehicular environment. |
Comments: |
It would be good if at least one student had a valid driving license (driving may be required during the testing phase of the project). |
