Description:
Mashup is an application development method which can be done in a lightweight manner to mix information and automate processes. Most of the current mashup approaches (e.g., Yahoo Pipes, Google Mashup Editor, Microsoft Popfly, IBM QEDWiki, etc) use manual composition while full automatic support is still the target of ongoing research activity. The aim of this project is to provide an automatic approach for service discovery and composition based on goal and context.


From the usage point of view, users do not need to care about the technical detail of mashup (e.g., how to invoke services, how to specify control flow, how the data is passed among services, etc). Users are required a framework that allow them to interact with the mashup environment in a more user-friendly way. For example, the mashup environment can perceive users' intention through high-level definition of goal and user's context, then suggest mashup plans to users. For example, Mary wants to have a list of restaurants nearby her address and how to get there, she specifies her goal with preferences such as the preferred time (e.g., evening) and meal (e.g., seafood) and the mashup tool will suggest mashup applications that produce the desired results.
