Description: |
Seminars occur frequently at Universities. Keeping track of all the interesting seminars at universities in the Sydney area, and remembering to attend the interesting ones, currently requires too much manual effort. Also, there is currently no useful way to go back and find information about seminars that happened in the past. The aim of this project is to use mail feeds, in a variety of formats (which is where the main challenge lies), to build a database of seminars that can drive a web application that allows users to subscribe to areas of interest, be informed when a seminar in this area is happening (via a range of modalities, such as email, iCal, RSS, etc.), to search for information about past/present/future seminars, etc. Tying such a system into various calendar systems would be a useful extension. Also, building an interface to a mobile device such as an iPhone is important to the usability of the system. | |
