Description:
The National Pro Bono Resource Centre (NPBRC) in the UNSW Law Faculty manages a collection of data about law firms that provide "pro bono" (free) legal services for clients. Their current infrastructure involves data spread over a content management system, several small databases, and spreadsheets. They wish to consolidate all of their data resources into a single DBMS and provide a range of services from that DBMS.
This project would require the student to work closely with the NPBRC staff to design the database, migrate data from their existing resources, and set up a web interface to simplify maintenance of the data. This would ultimately need to integrate with their existing web presence (http://www.nationalprobono.org.au/).
Comments:
This is a good opportunity to work on a development project which would stand you in good stead for subsequent industry positions. There is the possibility that NPBRC could get funding for the development which could employ you over summer to work on the project.
