Description:
Voxel models are becoming more widespread as a format for representing 3D models. In their raw form they are very data intensive but they can potentially be compressed in much the same way as 2D pixel-maps.

In this project you will investigate algorithms for lossy compression of voxel models, extending JPEG compression to 3D and experimenting with different levels of quantisation to see what details can be sacrificed while maintaining readily identifiable models.
