Description:
The current process for submitting a PhD thesis at UNSW is handled by the Graduate Research School (GRS) at UNSW and involves:
* student nominates intent to submit when thesis nearly complete
* supervisor nominates examiners
* school and faculty approve examiners
* student submits thesis
* thesis is sent to examiners
* examiners report back results (after reading thesis)
* student may need to make changes (from minor to major)
* changes are approved (possibly requires re-examination)
* student is eligible to graduate with PhD
The aim of this project is to build a web-based system that allows the Graduate Research School to more easily keep track of thesis submissions and their progress through the examination process to graduation.
Comments:
The Graduate Research School (GRS) will act as the client for this project and will provide detailed specifications on what they want from the system. You need to build an interface prototype by the end of semester one and a complete system by mid-way through semester two. If successful, there is the possibility of further developing the system and actually having it deployed by UNSW.
