Description:
Traditional risk management assumes high visibility and control over the environments in which software is developed and executed. These conditions break down in using Cloud-based services to execute business applications. This thesis project investigates the problem and seeks to determine how risk management might be adapted to perform effectively in utilising cloud services.

Thesis Part A will investigate the literature (and/or practice) to identify current approaches to managing risk in using the cloud, identify critical success factors in managing risk in using the cloud, and propose an alternative (or adapted) framework for managing risk in using cloud services.

Thesis Part B will empirically investigate the validity of the proposed risk management framework either by evaluating its application in practice or by assessing its veracity against practices used by one or more users of cloud services.

Dr Paul Bannerman is a NICTA research scientist and conjoint UNSW/CSE research fellow. You will need to attend review meetings at the NICTA ATP laboratory near the Redfern train station (13 Garden Street, Eveleigh).
