Description:
Atrial fibrillation (AF) is the most common sustained heart rhythm disorder, increasing the risk for heart disease and implicated in as many as 25% of all strokes in the elderly. Computer simulation has great potential to increase our understanding of atrial rhythm disorders such as atrial fibrillation.
This project will involve the development of simple computational models for simulating electrical activity in atrial tissue. Work will likely include implementation of numerical simulation code in Matlab or COMSOL finite element software, and represents an ideal opportunity for an interested student to gain exposure to the field of computational modelling.
