Laboratories

In order to do just about any of the things described in this manual, you will need access to appropriate hardware. At present, we have general purpose laboratories in three buildings.

The location of the laboratories and the type of hardware available in each are listed in table 1.1 and on the School website at http://www.cse.unsw.edu.au/help/computing/facilities/index.html. Maps of the laboratory and printer locations are also available in figures 1.1 to 1.4 on pages [*] to [*].

The labs you will be able to use depend on the courses you are doing. For example, thesis students will mainly use the banjo laboratory and students enrolled in COMP1001 will use only the oboe lab.

The restrictions on which laboratories you will be able to use will be enforced by the booking system (see section 1.5 on page [*] for a discussion of the booking system).
