The Wireless Network

The School provides connectivity for students with laptops equipped with a wireless networking card. These can be used anywhere within the K17 building, on the lawn outside K17 and J17 undercroft.

All Internet traffic associated with your wireless card/laptop will be added to your IP usage in the same way as your Internet usage via any of our lab computers or other servers. Please note, this means that excessive use of your laptop when downloading from the Internet could cause you to exceed your Internet quota. See section 1.9.6 on page [*] for more information about IP Quota.

You will first need to register the MAC address of your wireless card (usually printed on the wireless card itself) and your CSE computer account name. These details will be added to the database of cards allowed to use the wireless network. You will also need to configure your laptop to use DHCP while using CSE's wireless network.
