Outline
To encourage students to undertake one of the concurrent degrees offered in the Graduate School of Biomedical Engineering.
Selection
Applicants must be Australian Citizens or have been granted Permanent Resident Status by 31 October of the year preceding commencement of the Engineering qualification.
Applicants must be completing the NSW HSC (or equivalent examination) in the year of the application for the Scholarship or the previous year (but must not have commenced tertiary study), and be proposing full-time study in the first year of a Bachelor of Engineering at the Kensington Campus of UNSW.
Recipients must enrol in one of the concurrent degree programs offered by the Graduate School of Biomedical Engineering. In 2010 these programs are:
BE/MBiom in Bioinformatics; Chemical Engineering; Computer Engineering; Electrical Engineering; Materials Science and Engineering; Mechanical Engineering; Mechatronic Engineering; Software Engineering; and, Telecommunications.
Recipients of the Scholarships must maintain a normal full-time load,that is 24 Units of Credit (UoC) per semester.
The Scholarship recipients should not normally hold any other Scholarship or Award (except for Youth Allowance/ Austudy/Abstudy, Commonwealth Learning Scholarship) except with the permission of the Dean of the Faculty of Engineering.
Each applicant will be assessed on the basis of interview performance, academic merit and personal qualities (for example, extra-curricula activities, evidence of leadership skills and potential to contribute to the wider life of the University). Consideration may also be given to any economic circumstances which might otherwise hinder successful transition to UNSW.
An ATAR of at least 91.00 is required to be eligible for the scholarship.
