Security Camera Information
In response to developing concerns over the safety of all students and to reduce the incidence of theft, the School of Computer Science and Engineering is further upgrading its security infrastructure. Surveillance cameras will be installed in the CSE Computer laboratories and three security Help Points will also be established.
On Friday 15th July 2005, the following laboratories will be fitted with video surveillance equipment:
- Bongo
- Moog
- Bell
- Leaf
- Spoons
- Mechanical Engineering Foyer (outside the Help Desk)
- Bugle
- Pipe
- Banjo
- Oud
- Lyre
- HCI
These cameras will be clearly visible upon entering the laboratories. Signage will be erected in all areas where a camera has been installed.
In addition, the school has employed UNSW security to install three Help Points in the following locations:
- Mechanical Engineering foyer, outside the CSE Help Desk.
- Mechanical Engineering Eatery Foyer, outside Pipe and Bugle labs.
- K17 Ground Floor Foyer.
These Help Points will be fitted with cameras which will relay video images to UNSW security once engaged.
The installation of the cameras and Help Points in CSE will provide students with a safer study environment, and will also safeguard the equipment in the laboratories against theft.
