Graduate Certificate of Engineering Science

Program 7338 GradCertEngSc

COMPAS7338 Information Technology

2 semestesr full-time or
4 semesters part-time

Program Requirements:

Professional Development 24uoc (4 courses)
Engineering & Technical Management Minimum 6uoc - Maximum 12uoc (1 - 2 courses)
Specialisation Minimum 12uoc (2 courses)
TOTAL 48uoc (8 courses)

Entry Requirements:

A student must hold a Bachelor of Engineering from UNSW with at least Honours 2/2 (or equivalent) in an appropriate discipline with a strong computing background;

or an equivalent qualification from another recognised university or tertiary institution.

Articulation: Students can apply to articulate from the Graduate Cerificate of Engineering Science (7338) to the Graduate Diploma of Engineering Science (5338) provided they have a credit average (65). Full credit will be granted.

Advanced Standing: up to 24uc of Professional Development courses for computing graduates may be given upon completion of an exemption exam.


Graduate Diploma of Engineering Science

Program 5338 GradDipEngSc

COMPAS5338 Information Technology

3 semesters full-time or
6 semesters part-time

Program Requirements:

Professional Development 24uoc (4 courses)
Engineering & Technical Management Minimum 6uoc - Maximum 18uoc (1 - 3 courses)
Specialisation Minimum 18uoc (3 courses)
TOTAL 60uoc (10 courses)

Entry Requirements:

A student must hold a Bachelor of Engineering from UNSW with at least Honours 2/2 (or equivalent) in an appropriate discipline with a strong computing background;

or an equivalent qualification from another recognised university or tertiary institution;

or completion of the Graduate Certificate of Engineering Science (COMPAS7338)

Articulation: Students can apply to articulate from the Graduate Diploma of Engineering Science (5338) to the Masters of Engineering Science (8538) provided they have a credit average (65WAM). Full credit will be granted.

Advanced Standing:  up to 24uc of Professional Development courses for computing graduates may be given upon completion of an exemption exam.


Master of Engineering Science

Program 8538 MEngSc

COMPAS8538 Information Technology

2-3 semesters full-time or
5-6 semesters part-time

Program Requirements:

Professional Development 24uoc (4 courses)
Engineering & Technical Management Minimum 12uoc - Maximum 24uoc (2 - 4 courses)
Specialisation Minimum 24uoc (4 courses)
TOTAL 72uoc (12 courses)

Entry Requirements:

A student must hold a Bachelor of Engineering from UNSW with at least Honours 2/2 (or equivalent) in an appropriate discipline with a strong computing background;

or an equivalent qualification from another recognised university or tertiary institution;

or completion of the Graduate Diploma of Engineering Science (COMPAS5338).

Articulation: Students can apply to articulate from the Master of Engineering Science (8538) to the Masters of Engineering Science Extension (8539) provided they have a credit average (65WAM). Full credit will be granted.

Advanced Standing:  up to 24uc of Professional Development courses for computing graduates may be given upon completion of an exemption exam.

Project Option: Students are permitted to substitute one or two courses from their Engineering & Technical Management requirement in their final semester with a project of equal value provided they meet the following criteria:

  1. Must be in final semester; and
  2. Have obtained agreement from a CSE academic supervisor; and
  3. Have maintained a distinction level performance in the program.

Projects are graded, and students deliver a seminar and submit a written report. Students should seek agreement from a supervisor prior to submitting a Project Nomination form (pdf) to the Postgraduate Coordinator.

 


Master of Engineering Science (extension)

Program 8539 MEngSc (ext)

COMPAS8539 Information Technology

3-4 semesters full-time or
7-8 semesters part-time

Program Requirements:

Professional Development 24uoc (4 courses)
Engineering & Technical Management Minimum 12uoc - Maximum 24uoc (2 - 4 courses)
Specialisation

Minimum 24uoc (4 courses)

TOTAL 96uoc (16 courses)

Entry Requirements:

A student must hold a Bachelor of Engineering from UNSW with at least Honours Class 1 (or equivalent) in an appropriate discipline with a strong computing background;

or an equivalent qualification from another recognised university or tertiary institution in order to be admitted to the program;

or completion of Master of Engineering Science (COMPAS8538)

Advanced Standing: is approved for 72uoc where the student has already completed the MEngSc (COMPAS8538) program,  or up to 24uc of Professional Development courses for computing graduates may be given upon completion of an exemption exam.
