C course can be substituted for a non-advanced UNSW
free elective.
Up to three courses can be substituted by a non-CSE course of equivalent level and
relevance.
MCompIT students
commencing from 2007 onwards are now required to complete a course in Project
Management instead of one elective course. [Students who articulate to MCompIT from GradDip
are encouraged to complete this requirement, however it is not compulsory]. Those who can
demonstrate a sufficient knowledge of project management gained through previous study or work
experience will be exempt from this requirement and permitted to enrol in an elective course.

Entry Requirements: at least a four year undergraduate degree equivalent to a
standard Australian bachelor degree in science or engineering; and a high credit average achieved
over the final two years of study.
OR a four year undergraduate degree equivalent to a standard Australian bachelor
degree in a discipline that included Mathematics up to at least year two level; and a high credit
average achieved over the final two years of study.
OR completion of the GradDip in Computing and Information Technology.
Advanced Standing in up to 4 Group A courses may be possible on completion of a
formal exemption exam. This would reduce the length of the program by up to 4 courses.
Advanced Standing is also approved for Group B, C or D courses where the student has already
completed a course relevant to this program, and where they have not been awarded the degree. I.e.,
they have not already received credit for the course towards another completed degree.
The 96uc must include 18uc in a chosen area to satisfy one of the following majors:

Two Group D courses can be replaced with a research project. Students must have a distinction
average, have reached the agreement of a CSE supervisor, and apply for the project in final
semester of their program. Projects are graded, and students deliver a seminar and submit a written
report. More information is available in the
