ABSTRACT:

Formal Concept Analysis is a branch of applied mathematics. Based on amathematization of concept and concept hierarchy it activates mathematicalmethods for conceptual data analysis and knowledge processing.

BIOGRAPHY OF SPEAKER:

Rudolf Wille is Professor Emeritus at the Department of Mathematics of the Darmstadt Institute of Technology. Since 1976 he has been a member of the board of directors of the Institute of Philosophy of the Darmstadt Instituteof Technology and from 1983 Chairman of the Research Group on ConceptAnalysis and President of the Ernst Schr?der Center for Conceptual KnowledgeProcessing. His research areas include general algebra, order and latticetheory, foundations of geometry, discrete mathematics, measurement theory,mathematical music theory, philosophy of sciences and humanities, formalconcept analysis, conceptual knowledge processing and contextual logic.Rudolf is co author of the first textbook and FCA, B. Ganter, R. Wille:Formal Concept Analysis: Mathematical Foundations, Springer-Verlag, 1999 andhas supervised more than 100 Masters students, 46 doctoral theses and 7habilitations.
