ABSTRACT:

This paper presents a conditional random field (CRF) approach
to integrate spatial and temporal constraints for moving object
detection and cast shadow removal in image sequences. Interactions among
both detection (foreground/background/shadow) labels and observed data
are unified by a probabilistic framework based on the conditional random
field, where the interaction strength can be adaptively adjusted in
terms of data similarity of neighboring sites. Experimental results show
that the proposed approach effectively fuses contextual dependencies in
video sequences and significantly improves the accuracy of object
detection.

BIOGRAPHY OF SPEAKER:

Yang Wang is a researcher of SMLKA program. He received his PhD
degree in computer science from National University of Singapore in
2004. He worked at Institute for Infocomm Research, Rensselaer
Polytechnic Institute, and Nanyang Technological University before
joined NICTA in 2006. Yang Wang has published more than twenty
international conference and journal papers on video analysis. His
current research focuses on video based multi-object segmentation,
tracking, and analysis by machine learning and information fusion
techniques.
