Women in Software Engineering
One of the first software engineers was a woman, Ada Lovelace, who worked for Charles Babbage in the mid 19th century. Although there have been some considerable achievements in software, software quality and reliability leave a lot to be desired. The modern period of software development has been largely dominated by men. Since our society is becoming more critically dependent on computing systems, especially software systems, it is vitally important that women play an equal role in the conceptual design and implementation of new systems. We strongly encourage women to join the UNSW Software Engineering program to help develop useful, high quality software for the 21st century.
