Software Engineering Programs
Program Revision The SE program was revised in 2004 and 2006. First year computing (COMP) courses were revised in 2007. Revision has less effect than most students expect. The general principle is that revision is not intended to be retrospective. FAQ
Standard Program
The standard program is a 4-year, 192 uoc program leading to the award of the BE Software Engineering degree. See standard BE SE link above.
Combined and Concurrent Programs
The combined programs are 5-year, 240 uoc programs leading to the award of two bachelor degrees: BE BSc, BE BA, BE BCom. Concurrent programs combine undergraduate and postgraduate courses leading to a bachelor and a master degree. The BE MBiomedE is a concurrent program. Combined and concurrent programs, as their names suggest, consist of two programs taken concurrently. In all cases the programs may be completed at the same time or sequentially and courses can be ordered to suit.
Free Electives
Within combined and concurrent programs, the stage 1 and 2 free electives are no longer free and become available to the other program.
Exemption from General Education
Combined programs are exempt from general education and the 12uoc usually used by general education are given to the other program.
Thus the SE content of the program is {192-12-12 = 168 uoc}. This leaves {48 + 12 + 12 = 72 uoc} available to the other program.
