The following information is relevant to CSE Undergraduate Thesis Supervisors and Assessors.
Students complete Thesis Part A (report and seminar) and Thesis Part B (report and demonstration).
Each student is asked to nominate a thesis topic after they have ernolled in Thesis Part A and we expect the nomination to be confirmed or rejected in time for the student to commence working on the thesis in week 1 of semester.
Students may discuss the topic with you first and obtain agreement in person or via email, in which case they will submit a "pre-approved nomination". Alternatively, students may submit up to 5 thesis topic preferences. If the supervisor does not accept or reject the student within 3 days of the nomination, they will receive a reminder from myCSE. If they still do not accept or reject the nomination staff in CSE Thesis Administration will reject the nomination on behalf of the supervisor and allow myCSE to send a nomination to the next preference in the list.
Assessors are nominated by the supervisor and are usually attached to a topic. It is expected that the supervisor will have discussed this with the asssessor first, as we do not seek agreement from assessors before finalising nominations.
It is very important for nominations to be finalised quickly so that students are not unecessarily delayed in commencing work on their thesis.
