General Education
Requirements
All undergraduate students are required to complete 12 units of credit of General Education or equivalent. Students doing a combined program may have 6 or 12 units of credit waived; you should check your program description for specific details regarding the General Education requirements for your program.
General Education Courses
Students can use any course outside of their area study, either from:
- The General Education courses (those that begin with the prefix GEN); or
- Elective course from outside a student's area of study
CSE students are not permitted to take any computing courses towards General Education, regardless of which faculty/school it comes from. For an idea of which areas of study your degree cannot use as General Education please check below:

If you have any queries regarding the eligibility of a course for General Education, please contact undergrad@cse.unsw.edu.au, as you may be required to re-enrol and pay for an additional course if you complete a course incorrectly.
