Undergraduate Internal Program Transfer
from within the Faculty of Engineering Schedule of Transfers
From Semester 2, 2006 a number of undergraduate students have had the opportunity to transfer
programs internally rather than through UAC or Direct Admissions as was previously the case.
To be eligible to transfer internally, students must have undertaken a minimum of one semester
of study in their current program and be in Good Standing.
To identify which programs can be transferred from/to internally, students should refer to the
Faculty of Engineering’s
Schedule of Internal
Transfers which is available, together with an outline of procedures for
online application, from
the Faculty of Engineering website:
http://www.eng.unsw.edu.au/current/transfer/index.htm
Students wishing to transfer outside of the Schedule are required to lodge a formal application
through the appropriate channel (i.e. via
UAC for Local students or via
Direct Admissions for international students).
Transfer between programs is for enrolled undergraduate students and not:
- PG course work or research students
- Commencing students (within two weeks of the start of semester)
- Students who change residency and are seeking eligibility to Commonwealth Supported or Domestic
Fee paying places
- Transfer between UNSW Asia and UNSW Kensington
Transfer of Credit
Students who are granted transfers may be entitled to credit for courses studied in a previous
program, whether or not the program was completed. Equivalent courses are transferred without
question; courses that might reasonably be taken as electives in the new program can also be
counted in most cases. There are some limits, however. It is not possible to be given an exemption
in a UNSW course at a higher level than the original course.
Students applying for a transfer into a CSE program who are seeking a transfer of credit should
contact the CSE Student Office Manager,
Cassandra Nock, via email or in
person at the CSE Student Office (Ground Floor, K17 Building).
