Project
Title:
Efficient Distribution of Content in Multi-Rate
Multi-channel Wireless Mesh Networks
Grant Scheme: ARC Discovery
DP0664791 (2006-2008)
Description:
Emerging Wireless Mesh Networks (WMN) is a
disruptive technology which has shorter deployment time and lower cost
compared with its competitors. Furthermore, the deployment of broadband
WMNs will enable an exciting range of new multimedia applications such
as broadcast of community events or local content to homes. In order to
realise these applications, this project aims to develop scalable and
efficient one-to-many communication, i.e., broadcast and multicast,
algorithms in the next generation of WMNs that have multi-rate
multi-channel nodes. This is a significant leap compared with the
current state of the art of routing in WMNs which is characterised by
unicast in a single-rate single-channel environment.
