Crossing Snowy River, 1971

Bill Wilson crossing the Snowy River, Australian Alps, on the way to Blue Lake in 1971, when it was still legal to camp there. An antique cabled nylon climbing rope is sticking out of the pack. This trip was in November, and for that time of year, there was still a lot of snow around. Other people on the trip were David (Nipper) Shirra, Brendon Moore, and Andrew Griffiths. We walked out in a blizzard 3 days later, using the rope to secure our crossing of the river, which was a lot higher and faster.
