Claire D'Este (PhD 2007)

Claire studied active concept in robotics. This work combined some of the long standing research in inductive logic programming and learning in complex environments that has been done in our laboratory over a long period of time. Claire resurrected the Marvin concept learning program that I write for my PhD and applied it in the context for which it was originally intended, that is, a robot actively exploring its environment and learning from example and by experimentation. In this case, the robot was an Sony Aibo. Thus, Claire was also able to build on the experience we had gained from RoboCup.
