David developed an ILP program that existed as an agent in a virtual world. It could learn to perform new tasks by observing another agent in the world and then by conducting experiments to test its hypotheses.
Shortly after submitting his thesis, Dave lead the first Australian expedition to successfully climb Mount Makalu, one of the 8,000m peaks in the Himalayas. Tragically, David fell during the descent.
