Computer Systems
Nowadays, normal interaction with a computer system is via:
- an application (e.g. Linux) managed by a
- a Window manager (e.g. fvwm2) running on
- a Window system (e.g. X) running on
- an operating system (e.g. Linux) running on
- a real machine (e.g. holst, ives, ...)
i.e. many levels removed from the machine.
In this part of the subject we want to:
- look at what happens at the machine level
- describe how we can program the machine
