     Update on Quiz Time

Based on the feedback from the class, let me change back the quiz time. The quiz will be in week 6 (Wed., 6 of April), as initially planned. But to reduce your workload, the quiz will cover the topics of the first 4 weeks.

     Quiz

The group project presentation will be held in week 6. To reduce your workload in week 6 as well as in response to some students' requests, I make the following changes to the class quiz: 1. The class quiz time is changed to Wednesday of Week 5, instead of week 6; and 2. The quiz covers the material of the first 4 weeks, not 5 weeks. Please let me know if you have any problems.

     Installation of WebPACK

The installation files can be obtained from the "VHDL references" link on the course web page.

    These are:

The two products are 400MB. You can also download them from http://www.xilinx.com/webpack/classics/wpclassic/index.htm

After both are downloaded, install WebPack as is - no config changes needed.

Install ModelSim as is. Select "Starter" edition and install "Full VHDL" version. After installation, you need to register ModelSim. The software automatically directs you to the correct Xilinx pages. You would need to first register as a user and then request the ModelSim starter license file which is mailed to you. When you click on Start Menu->Programs->ModelSim->License you'll be prompted for the location of that file and have your environment appropriately modified.

To begin using the software, start the ISE Project Manager and try the Quick Start Guide in the documentation or access the detailed tutorial at Xilinx.
