Question 1

• 3 marks for a correct solution (0 marks if incorrect)
• 1 mark for understanding and explaining the application of the statistical cryptanalysis technique
• 1 mark for a clever approach to solving the problem after the statistical technique had been applied

Question 2

• 3 marks for a correct solution (0 marks if incorrect)
• 1 mark for demonstrating understanding of hash functions
• 2 marks for the explanation of the solution

Question 3

• 1 mark for each part if the answer is reasonable

Question 4

• 2 marks for each part if the answer is correct. 1 mark if the answer is correct but the explanation is poor.
