What is CSESoc?

CSESocCSESoc is the Computer Science and Engineering student's society. All students undertaking degrees in Computer Science, Computer Engineering & Software Engineering are automatically members of CSESoc. Other students can become members of CSESoc by request. CSESoc runs many events throughout the year including social activities such as trivia nights, poker nights, gaming tournaments, LAN parties, BBQs, video nights as well as events to assist CSE students technically including Lab 0 for first year students and Linux Installfests each semester. The CSESoc exec coordinate all activities of CSESoc by holding weekly meetings and liasing with the School of Computer Science & Engineering as well as the faculty, to book venues, secure funds, and publicise CSESoc events.

Who is Dave aka 'Bowman' aka 'nishkak'?

I am currently undertaking a BSc (Computer Science) in the School of Computer Science and Engineering. In 2007 I was a 1st year rep to the CSESoc exec. I am a Hitchhikers Guide to the Galaxy fanatic, a trekkie, and a Python bigot. In 2008, as I enter my 2nd year of studies, I hope to continue working as part of the CSESoc exec. Why should Dave run CSESoc?

To be on the CSESoc executive, it is important to make the commitment to show up to the weekly meetings and to complete tasks delegated to you. Any of this year's exec can attest to the fact that I was always on time to meetings, and put a considerable amount of my time into helping run events. This year, although only a 1st year rep, I assisted in running both trivia nights, preparing the slideshow presentation for the second one, I assisted the Technical Officer in running two of the InstallFests, as well as fulfilling the 1st year rep's role of representing the interests of first year students, and contributing in each of the exec's weekly meetings.

As I continue my studies in CSE, I would like to give more of my time to help out with CSESoc. I think we have a fantastic society and all attendees love the events. Having worked with the exec this year, I now have the experience to take on one of the more senior roles in the exec. Vote for me if you want somebody running the society with practical experience, and who is committed to making CSE an even better place to be!

Who else should I vote for?
