Swipe Card Access
The following information describes the lab and building access policy for
CSE undergraduate and postgraduate coursework students.
CSE provides you with swipe card access for your individual benefit only.
Please do not allow unauthorised tail gaters entry to the facilities at
any time.
Any questions or problems relating to the access described here should be
directed to the CSE Help Desk. We can check your eligibility for access
and send relevant details to the appropriate parties on your behalf for
processing.
Please note, unless instructed otherwise, you do NOT need to approach
Security Services yourself - your card will be encoded electronically for
you. You are required to use other free-access labs in the meantime if you
are eligible for access and it is yet to be enabled for you.
All other enquiries (including staff and postgraduate research student
enquiries) should be directed to CSE Facilities, or check with the CSE Help
Desk if unsure.
Executive summary:
Students enrolled in any CSE course or program are entitled to
after-hours access to general purpose labs and buildings
containing them. Note: these labs are not located in building K17.
Students have tut-lab that is scheduled in Oud, Lyre or Robots labs are
entitled to after-hours access to building K17. Tutors and thesis students
are also given after-hours access to building K17.
All access relies on the student being in posession of a current student
ID card.
Where the term after-hours is used, this refers to the time that the labs
are no longer in free access but are usable according to lab opening times at:
http://www.cse.unsw.edu.au/~helpdesk/opening.html
All general purpose labs are secured from 19:00 Monday to Friday and remain secured
at all times on Saturday and Sunday and Public Holiday. They require after-hours swipe access
to be accessed within these time-frames duration the lab opening hours.
It should be noted that once the labs are officially CLOSED (according to
the published schedule or by special notice), you should not enter the
labs; this applies whether or not your student ID card allows you access.
