I'm a faculty member of the School of Computer Science and Engineering at UNSW, Sydney, Australia. I received my PhD from the University of Melbourne in 1990 in the area of deductive database access methods (signature files). I worked as a lecturer at Melbourne for a few years, before moving to UNSW (warmer climate, better beaches, sensational Olympics :-) at the start of 1993. My overall research interest is in the efficient and effective use of large repositories of heterogeneous data. My work on multimedia retrieval and database systems implementation ties in with this. I'm also keen to promote the effective use of information technology (particularly web technology) in IT education and education administration. Note: I will be away from UNSW on study leave for the second half of 2010. If you want to do a thesis with me in 2010, keep this in mind (i.e. meetings in 10s2 would need to be remote). |
