The Highlands start about 50km north of Glasgow at Loch Lomond and take in some wild and spectacular regions of Scotland's north. In the past, they were home to the "Mac" clans (and others, like the Campells) who squabbled with each other a lot ... until the English came along. Then they (generally) fought together against the English, although some turncoats thought they could get advantage by siding with the southerners. As some of these photos show, it rains a lot in the Highlands.
