Projects:

Spatial Database:

Continuous monitoring of spatial queries has received significant research attention in the past few years. In of of our project, we propose two efficient algorithms for the continuous monitoring of the constrained k nearest neighbor (kNN) queries. In contrast to the conventional k nearest neighbors (kNN) queries,a constrained kNN query considers only the objects that lie within a region specified by some user defined constraints (e.g., a polygon). Similar to the previous works, we also use grid-based data structure and propose two novel grid access methods. Our proposed algorithms are based on these access methods and guarantee that the number of cells that are accessed to compute the constrained kNNs is minimal. Extensive experiments demonstrate that our algorithms are up to three times faster than the previous algorithm and use considerably less memory.

The concept of safe region has been used to reduce the computation and communication cost for the continuous monitoring of k nearest neighbor (kNN) queries. A safe region is an area such that as long as a query remains in it, the set of its kNNs does not change. In this paper, we present an efficient technique to construct the safe region by using cheap RangeNN queries. We also extend our approach for dynamic datasets (the objects may appear or disappear from the dataset). Our proposed algorithm outperforms existing algorithms and scales better with the increase in k.

Web Database:

I have worked to cluster web data. My work object was to collect the information using google search and then cluster the data returned by the search engines in to some meaningful category.

I also worked for personalize the web search. I have studied different techniques and analysis them to understand better. The personalization of search is based on users types of interest. I worked out some solutions that seems more efficient then the existing systems as well.

Educational Software Development and Production (ESDP):

Recently I am working in ESDP project funded by European Union and collaboration with Bremen University, Germany. The task of the project is to find out ES development mechanism and compare it with the European standard. The next task is to develop course module on educational software development. The third face is to conduct a pilot course with the developed module. The final task will be publishing a report on research out come and pilot course. Detail available in: www.esdp.uni-bremen.de

Microcontroller Based Projects:

Implementation of electronic voting machine was a project proposed by us. Our objective is to build a electronic voting machine which will increase efficiency of manual voting system. Basically vote counting part will be automated in this system which will save lots of time and money. We already have developed the program for the machine.

We have proposed to develop a microcontroller based exam system. In this system using the user panel the user will be able to answer the questions. The in built software in the server will collect the answer and will be able to process the result and store in the server.

I have worked in a team for development of commercial microcontroller based products like Taxi-meter (fare meter). In addition to that the group is working for waiting counter, Digital Clock and Timer.

I am involved with the research group to design and develop Bengali numerals and alphabets with available resources. For segment based display we already have offered nine-segment system with microcontroller. We already have developed the prototype. We are working with matrix based display to represent Bengali Numerals and Alphabets.
