Research Interests

Professor Mahbub Hassan leads an active research team working on mobile and wireless networking projects sponsored both by the government and industry. Current interests include (but not strictly limited to):

Vehicular Communication and Networking. Wireless communication and networking challenges for both the traditional Internet applications (e.g., e-mail, web, live news, etc.) in the vehicular environment, as well as the emerging Intelligent Transportation System (ITS) applications (e.g., vehicle-to-vehicle short range wireless communication based accident prevention and facilitating road-side e-commerce via vehicle-to-infrastructure communication)
Keywords: Direct Short Range Communication (DSRC), car-to-car or vehicle-to-vehicle communication, vehicular safety communication, communication-based automotive safety, wireless access for vehicular environment (WAVE), network mobility, mobile router, onboard mobile communication.
