Intercal Extensions
INTERCAL is the
Compiler Language With No Pronounceable Acronym, possibly
the earliest and in my opinion still the best language in the now prolific
world of esoteric programming langauages.
My own contribution is a humble one. I have written two proposals for extensions to this fine language:
-
My first proposal, for Threaded Intercal, brings the wonders of multi-threading to INTERCAL. It has been described by Eric S. Raymond as "perhaps the most impressively gaga" extension he has encountered. Grand praise indeed! I have since turned this proposal into a concrete implementation which you can download here.
-
My second, more recent proposal combines the style of INTERCAL with the grace of Prolog, to give you Backtracking Intercal (aka Interlog... or Prontercal ... or Printerlog or something). With such etheric beauty, it will come as no surprise that it still eludes such coarse and ugly a process as implementation.
Other Intercal sites:
- Muppet Labs - Lots of INTERCAL related information
- J-Intercal - An implementation of C-INTERCAL in Java, sadly doesn't implement my extensions.
- CLC-Intercal - The long lost perl implementation of Intercal, now unearthed, with many extensions, including support for quantum computing. From the folks at Assurdo Technologies, now sadly defunct.
