26/8/06: SIX MONTHS AND TEN DAYS

I wonder if anyone still visits here? hmm.. Anyway, some news has come and gone, which you probably know about already, regarding two tour dates and Cog planning to then not going to the USA. Anyway, someone combed the website for Adelaide venue HQ and found some advertising for a Cog gig on the 8th October. The graphic that comes up corresponding to that date mentioned a "The "Detour" Tour", so I'd expect some more dates around this time to be announced shortly. Hopefully there may be some new stuff along the way, alongside the instrumental they've been playing at gigs this year.

Also, a dude called Adam recorded a Cog gig in June, which you can download here.

6/1/06: YOU'VE ALL BEEN WAITING FOR AN UPDATE HAVN'T YOU??

And here it is.. Holy fuck i've been lazy this year... But yes. If you want to hear my (attempted) talent with music, listen to my free album here. In other news, Cog was on the television last month for the Musicoz Awards broadcast, playing Anarchy OK. It would have been a great performance if it weren't for Flynn's rig cutting out during the phattest part of the song. They also presented an award. Also in news, Cog played at a small festival in Orange (i couldn't be fucked to advertise it at the time). Cog also performed at the Christmas bash of Sydney band Junto's lead singer's clothing label. A lengthy instrumental set was performed, with a rotating lineup of players including Junto guitarist and former Cog guitar tech [the big black guy :)] Joseph Berry..

everyone hop on over to www.abc.net.au/triplej/hottest100 and place your votes for the 2006 Hottest 100.. From memory there are six Cog songs up there, but remember to vote for some of the other quality releases this year, particularly Pivot, City City City, Broken Social Scene, Sigur Ros, Team Sleep, The Dirty Three, or whatever tickles your fancy... Its pity they don't have any Pelican or This is Your Captain Speaking on the list though... Damn their prejudice against instrumental music!

24/9/05: JUNTO OUT KARNIVOOL IN, SOUNDS LIKE LIES FORUM IS BACK

FOr the Coogee Bay Hotel show on the 20th October, Junto will not be playing, Karnivool will be replacing them. Also, Sounds Like Lies Forum is back, though in its embryonic stages.

16/9/05: THE NEW NORMAL NEW ZEALAND RELEASE DATE

from cog newsletter:

NZ album release

The New Zealand release date for The New Normal has been set for October 17th. The Run single goes to NZ radio in advance of this, so NZ'ers - request Run at your favourite radio station now or vote for Run online at The Rock and 96BFM.

14/9/05: THE RUN TOUR

Dates will be transferred properly to Tour page when i have the time.

7/9/05: OCTOBER TOUR DATES

More confirmed dates in tour section. The Fumes look to be the main support.

6/9/05: OCTOBER TOUR

The Drum Media has advertised that Cog will tour nationally in October. At this stage I am aware of two dates through moshtix, check tour section for those. I shall be looking to contact some sources on what other dates may be happening.

oh, and here's a little promo picture that was floating around of Johnny Toogood from Shihad and Flynn Gower from Cog

30/8/05: TOM LARKIN THE MEGAPHONE MAN

30/8/05: RUN IN THE CHARTS, SOUNDS LIKE LIES UP AGAIN

Run debuted at number five in the AIR charts for independent label and distribution. It didn't make the top twenty for Australian Artists overall. Also, Sounds Like Lies is up again with a fresh makeover. Nothing much is up there at the moment but more will be added as time goes by.

29/8/05: TOUR HAPPENINGS, COG TAB WEBSITE, ALLSORTS

So there's been a great response to the Homeland Security Tour with several of the shows selling out. Of interesting note was the appearance of a man in a hoodie with a megaphone at the Enmore Theatre show to say, during Cog's set (through the megaphone) "are you ready? this is the anarchy OK". Word has it that it was Clint from The Butterfly Effect, and others have reported that it was Tom Larkin from Shihad, the headline act, but the hoodie being how it is generally concealed the identity of this person. I personally wasn't at the show, because I didn't want to to pay 45 dollars to see Cog at Enmore Theatre, and i'm not particularly fond of Shihad.

Also in news, one good fellow has compiled all the Cog tabs lying around including around half of the New Normal here.

and i've updated the formerly atrocious biography in the band section.... And i added articles for The Hanging Tree and Juice on wikipedia.

8/8/05: HOMEBAKE

Cog is playing at Homebake 2005, 3rd December at the Domain in Sydney. tickets are $75 + booking free. Lineup so far: THE FINN BROTHERS • THE LIVING END • SOMETHING FOR KATE • BEN LEE • WOLFMOTHER • THE CAT EMPIRE • CUT COPY • COG • THE SAINTS • THE BEAUTIFUL GIRLS • DECODER RING • SARAH BLASKO • END OF FASHION • EVERMORE • THE GO-BETWEENS • PAUL MAC • THE DIRTY THREE • KATALYST & RU C.L • SNEAKY SOUND SYSTEM • KISSCHASY • WOLF & CUB and more....

28/7/05: OH, AND ANOTHER THING

Of the flash animation that was linked from the news page of the official site: remember to form your OWN opinions and not necessarily be swayed by potential propaganda, pro-, or anti-government. Remember to attack the credibility of sources, whatever they are.

28/7/05: THE REAL ACTUAL NO JOKE RELEASE DATE FOR RUN SINGLE, NORTHCOTE SHOW BROADCAST

So the release date is ACTUALLY 16th August and not 1st August as was reported in the last news post. Also, I have a tracklist, available in the Discography section.

Also, i forgot to tell you all that the show at Northcote Social Club from 1st May was broadcast on 23rd July on Melbourne's Syn 90.7 radio station, but if you missed it, its your fault for relying on this website and not the official one for news, haha. In better news, video bootlegs of songs from that gig, and of the Hi-Fi Bar gig should be up at Arjue Ready within a week or two.

29/6/05: RUN VIDEO CLIP, TRACKS FOR RUN EP

Cog finished shooting a video clip for Run yesterday, at an abandoned prison, done up to look like a detention centre. The clip follows captives attempting to escape from their confines. And the word from the band is that the Run EP will contain Run, two tracks from the live at the wireless gig recorded, and the video clip for My Enemy... Considering they're calling this an EP, i have a feeling they will be putting one of the longer live tracks on, such as maybe Open Up a Little More.

26/6/05: RUN EP

According to a fairly reliable source, there will be an EP lifted from The New Normal, the "Run EP", which apparently is due out on 1st August. Its tracklisting is not known as yet, and whether or not there will be a video is debatable.

12/6/05: LOOK WHAT I RECIEVED IN MY MAIL

Here is the latest cog newsletter if anyone did not recieve it. In short, news of new dates in Australia with Shihad and a nomination for Triple J's J Award.

3/6/05: COG SUPPORTS SHIHAD AT ENMORE

August 17th sees Cog support Shihad at Enmore Theatre in Sydney, announced during Cog's triple j co-host earlier today. This is probably a good indicator that Cog will be suporting Shihad for a tour in Australia, in addition to the Kiwi tour.

31/5/05: COG CO-HOSTS MEL IN THE MORNING ON TRIPLE J

from www.cog.com.au:

cog will be on JJJ radio this Friday 3rd June to co-host with Mel Bampton from 10am-11am, playing a selection of songs from bands that have given their favourite live performances of all time.

27/5/05: COG SUPPORTS SHIHAD IN NEW ZEALAND

according to the official website of Kiwi band Shihad, Cog, alongside Kiwi bands Die! Die! Die! and Kora will support Shihad on their forthcoming July tour in New Zealand. This should prove to be an opportunity for the band to showcase their sound to a foreign audience. Tickets go on sale tomorrow, 28/5. The dates:

THUR 7th JULY - POWERSTATION - AUCKLAND
FRI 8th JULY - ALTITUDE - HAMILTON
SAT 9th JULY - TOWN HALL - WELLINGTON

25/5/05: RUMOURED TOUR DATE, MANY NEW ARTICLES

There is word floating around of a gig in Armidale with rather awesome Kiwi band Shihad. The source says that the gig has not yet been confirmed, but the date is supposed to be around August.

8/5/05: NEW ARTICLES

there are three new articles in the articles section, all are album reviews for "The New Normal".

7/5/05: BELGRAVE: CONFIRMED, CHARTS, MY ENEMY NET50

on 25th of May, Cog will play at Ruby's Lounge in Belgrave, a fairly small, intimate venue, so tickets will probably sell fast, tickets: $20 from the venue (03) 9754 7445, no supports announced, and the likelihood is that there will not be any.

In the meantime, The New Normal is still hanging in the charts, as of 2nd May holding onto the number 50 spot in the ARIA albums chart, and number 13 in the Australasian albums chart. They currently hold the number 2 spot in the AIR independent labels and distributors chart.

My Enemy is currently at number 4 in triple j's net50 chart. vote, ,and My enemy may crack the top spot. Oh, and if you havn't been to the discography section, click here > save target as for the video clip for My Enemy, thanks to whoever ripped this, and Shawn at Sounds Like Lies for uploading it.

6/5/05: LIVE AT THE WIRELESS, RUMOURED GIGS

The gig at Canberra's ANU bar, recorded by Triple J, will broadcast next Monday on radios across Australia.

There has been word about upcoming gigs from fairly reliable sources, at Mona Vale Hotel in Mona Vale, NSW, and at Ruby's Lounge in Belgrave, Victoria. These are yet to be officially confirmed and no dates are available at this point in time.

26/4/05: NEW NORMAL IN THE AIR CHARTS, INFO ON NORTHCOTE SHOW

Cog has debuted at number one on AIR's chart for independent labels and distributors. Clap clap clap clap clap, nice work Cog. ALso, tickets of the Northcote SOcial CLub gig are $20, bookings at 9486-1677, and I suspect from the venue itself. Thanks to di0de from the Sounds Like Lies Forum for the heads-up

25/4/05: CORRECTION

Sorry, everyone, the Northcote show is on the 1st May rather than the 30th.

25/4/05: NEW SHOW, NEW NORMAL CHARTS AGAIN, MY ENEMY VIDEO, NEW ARTICLES

A new show has been added, 30th May at Northcote Social Club in Melbourne. The New Normal has charted for a second week in the national charts, coming in at number 35 for all albums, and number 11 for Australasian albums. The video clip for My Enemy was screened on Friday night/Saturday morning's rage program, watch this space for a link to a rip of that. Two new articles have been added to the articles section.

Also, a shout out to Mark Mansfield and Daniel Parkinson at Official Site for mentioning the Sounds Like Lies Forum in the latest news post, its contributed nicely to the evergrowing number of members.

20/4/05: MORE NEWS (THIS IS GETTING TIRING)

The My Enemy video clip is being screened on rage this friday night/Saturday morning. It has also been added to channel v's playlist, so vote for it. Live at the wireless gig has been confirmed by the official site.

19/4/05: SELF AT ALBURY, ANTISTATIC IN PERTH

according to Sydney band Self's official site, they will be playing at the Albury show at Sodens Hotel on April 29th. Also, Perth band Antistatic will be playing at the 20th May show at Rosemont Hotel in North Perth.

18/4/05: MY ENEMY IN NET50, NEW NORMAL IN THE CHARTS, NEW MERCH

My Enemy has debuted at number 6 in the triple j net 50. Cog's currnet tourmates, Karnivool, broke the net 50 record by holding onto the top spot for 7 weeks. It would be nice if My Enemy could topple over the might of Karnivool's "Shutterspeed", and get to number one.

on a more victorious note, the New Normal has debuted at number 19 in the country, number 6 for Australasian artists, much higher than I personally expected. This is wonderful news and I congratulate the Cog boys for the achievement

The Official site has announced the availablity of new merchandise at shows, go to the official site to check what.

16/4/05: ARTICLES UP, LIVE AT THE WIRELESS

I have transcribed and uploaded the Drum Media and Mixdown articles, check the articles section to read them. However, the articles in The Buzz and The Daily Telegraph are yet to be accessed. Again a scan/photograph could be useful.

Also, certain sources said a while ago that the gig an the ANU Bar in Canberra ont he 28th of this month will be recorded for triple j's live at the wireless program.

14/4/05: COG - OMNIPRESENT

There is a new article, from Sydney Morning Herald that is currently up in the article section, but Cog as also graced the cover of street press mags Mixdown and The Buzz. It would be much appreaciated if someone could be able to get a scan of either of these stories (webmaster@pseudo.tk), especially The Buzz as I don't live in Victoria or Tasmania

12/4/05: COG IS EVERYWHERE, THE NEW NORMAL RELEASED NATIONALLY

Firstly, Lucius spoke on FBI on Monday night at around 9pm, i'm hoping someone can do something about making that available. Also, Cog is on the front cover of this week's edition of Drum Media (sydney street press). I will have the articles and a .pdf up soon. Cog will be on tonight's Full Metal Racket show on triple j (this was inevitable), which starts at 11pm today, running through to 1am tomorrow. For this i am also hoping someone will make the audio available, as usually it takes triple j to get an interview up.

Also, if you didn't know already, the new Cog album "The New Normal" was released nationally today. Sorry Windir, no international release as of yet

10/4/05: DISCOGRAPHY UPDATED

Well, i now have the album, and as a result the discography has been updated. Check the albums page, then click on more. It will take me a week or two to get pages for each song. Also, a new article is up, the first one for the year.

8/4/05: IN-STORE NEWS, NEW NORMAL NEWS

Sydney will be the first city to get their hands on "the New Normal". At the Utopia ALL AGES in-store, one can only enter after preordering the album, before 11:15pm, the time at which the doors open. Cog play for 30 minutes, followed by a signing, then, at midnight the album goes on sale.

On the subject of Triple J, "The New Normal" is Triple J's feature album all of this week, so there may be specials on it at various times. Looking at the New Normal review page, the cover art will probably be very similar to the current front page of Official, besides the "debut album blah blah blah". Also, this is probably oldish news, but there will be a limited edition digipack, for the purposes of braille (see Cog front page).

2/4/05: MY ENEMY VIDEO

There will be a video clip for My Enemy, which is being shot in Melbourne within a week or two. Also, theres just under 4 hours left for you to vote to keep Real Life and My Enemy in the Triple J net50.

10 (possibly 7 depending on if the album is launched at Utopia Records in store) days to album release.

30/3/05: CHARADES, UTOPIA IN-STORE

NOTE: can't be bothered to paraphrase, so heres the post from Shawn Adsett's tremendous Cog website, Sounds Like Lies:

From Official:
--------------

"The band have announced a MIDNIGHT instore at Utopia records in Sydney on Saturday 9th April. They will also perform at an all ages instore at Skinny's in Brisbane at 1pm on Sunday 24th April."

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Last night Hoag (sic) continued his praise of the new normal by playing another brand new track "Charades".

If you missed this one you can grab the stream from :: HERE::

Here are links to the most recent cog tracks:
---------------------------------------------

:: My Enemy::
:: Real Life::
::Charades:: Stream / Ogg

Big cheers go out to doogsey for ripping these streams!

If you have no idea what an OGG is, the you probably dont deserve to have these ripps.
To all of you media player groupies... get out of your shell and try :: Winamp::

The forum is still runing for those of you who seem to have forgoten...
yes... its dead... so fucking post... makes sence?

Until next time...
Stay Metal
::M1557::

Oh, and just on the note of Sounds Like Lies, can someone tell him to hurry up and finish "constructing" the remaining parts of his website which has been at least partially "under construction" since last year.

26/3/05: REAL LIFE DROPS PLACES, MY ENEMY

Well, it appears Real Life has dropped 14 places to number 37 in this week's net50, so i suggest you good people vote. On a better note, A Perfect Circle, The Mars Volta, Shihad, Flaming Lips and Queens of the Stone Age all gained places, while Karnivool's Shutterspeed holds the top spot for the fourth week runnning. So everything I voted for gained places EXCEPT FOR REAL LIFE.

Also, if you want to hear "My Enemy", which is currently being played on radio, here is the place to go. Its sounding rather large, Sylvia Massy's production has really given the sound a kick. So, come April 12th, i will implode becasue i'm so obsessed with Cog it just isn't funny anymore. Oh, and for anyone who likes Kanivool, the good news is that their album "Themata" is selling much more than they expected, thus they are currently on their 3rd pressing, the bad news being that currently you'd be hard pressed to find a copy as this pressing probably hasn't been released yet.

15/3/05: CRUSTY DEMONS SHOWS

According to the Crusty Demons website, Cog will be playing at their shows, details thus:

Brisbane - Crusty Demons 10th Anniversary Tour + Freak'n Air Show + Live Bands

will add to tour page when i can be bothered.

5/3/05: REAL LIFE MAKES TOP 20

Real Life came in no.17 in this week's triple j net50, while Cog tourmates Karnivool made a no.1 debut for their track "Shutterspeed", which can be downloaded from their official site.

3/3/05: TRACKLISTING, TOUR DATES

Well here it is, I have information regarding the actual tracklisting and song length of the forthcoming album:

(in order)
Real Life (5:57)
Anarchy OK (6:21)
Silence is Violence (7:40)
Resonate (4:34)
Spine (7:13)
My Enemy (3:35)
Run (5:10)
The River Song (7:41)
Charades (4:01)
Doors (10:18)
Naming the Elephant (10:48)

needless to say, I and probably you are both pumped to our ears about this album, and this information only adds to fanatical excitement... Many, many thanks to the AMF user who was generous enough to reveal these logistical details.

because i'm lazy, i'll just redirect you to the Official Site in regards to the official, confirmed tour dates.

27/2/05: REAL LIFE MAKES JJJ NET50, TOUR NEWS

Real Life has made the Triple J net 50 at no.47, possibly due to the fact it is plastered for download all over the triple j website. This is great news, so get voting and see if we can get Real Life further up the list.

In other news, its about to be set in fairly firm concrete that there is going to be a New Normal tour, of 7 weeks starting on April 14th at The Metro in Sydney. Other information also tells us that In The Grey are highly likely to be the main supports for the tour, and members of Karnivool have implied that they'll be also supporting for the first leg. Almost confirmed tour dates can be found on the web, in the various Cog forums, but i'm not going to post them until they've been confirmed. It has also been hinted that Junto may be main supports on a tour after this initial 7 week outing, and also that there may be a US or Europe tour, pending album deals there.

13/2/05: CORRECTION

Well, you see, Real Life isn't going to be the first single, its presence on Triple J, if i can depend on the information of Richard Kingsmill (which i will), is merely as a "taste" for the new album. I still think its odds on likely that Resonating will be the first single, on the mere fact it SOUNDS like a single.

13/2/05: THE FIRST SINGLE

Last week i found a short article that revealed that the first single will be Real Life. I now have more solid confirmation. The official site tells us that Real Life has been added to Triple J's playlist and can be requested for Super Request at http://abc.net.au/triplej/requests/make_a_request.htm and Net 50 at http://www.abc.net.au/triplej/net50/vote.htm. Also, Real Life will be shortly available for a short time at Official.

11/1/05: MORE NEWS (I SPOKE TOO SOON!): BENEFIT GIG

Yet another news post, this time regarding a Tsunami benefit gig at which we'll be seeing Cog play alongside Katalyst, The Dead Rebels and local DJs. This will be held at Cog's birthplace and residence, Bondi, at the Beach Road Hotel on 15th January (doors open 3pm). Tickets are $15, from the door. I'm assuming that the profit will go to the effort to cleanup and rebuild areas effected by the recent tsunami.

9/1/05: PILGER FESTIVAL

Just as a very loosely related note, left-wing writer and film-maker John Pilger, who's film "Breaking the Silence: The Truth and Lies of the War on Terror" was shown at a couple of Cog gigs around April of last year, will be holding a festival of his films, at Valhalla Cinema. Here is a brief note:

"In conjunction with the publication of his latest book, Tell Me No Lies, the Valhalla Cinema in Sydney, Australia will show the first ever John Pilger Film Festival, starting on 11 January. Sixteen of Pilger's 58 documentary films for ITV will be shown over a week, beginning with his first film 'The Quiet Mutiny' (1970), and including his classics 'Year Zero (1979) and 'Death of a Nation' (1994) and the Australian premiere of his latest film, 'Stealing a Nation', first shown on ITV in Britain in 2004. For tickets phone Sydney (02) 9660 4210 or Chris Kiely on 9552 2456. The full programme is on www.valhallacinemas.com.au/coming_soon.php"

Thanks to Shawn (M1557), webmaster of Sounds Like Lies, for the heads-up.

8/1/05: TOUR DATE

A surprising lack of news at the moment, but in the meantime, some fairly reliable word of mouth (someone at the venue) has told me that Cog will be playing at Woonona Bulli RSL on April 16. I'm guessing around that time we'll be seeing the album tour which will probably be 10 plus shows.

21/12/04: RELEASE DATE

A release date for the forthcoming Cog album "The New Normal" has been officially set: 12th April, 2005. This calls for some reflection on the release dates that have been estimated over the past 1 to 2 years. I know that in mid 2003 people were estimating late 2003 or early 2004 releases, but obviously that did not eventuate. Lucius himself, in March 2004, said the album would be out before the end of the year. But i guess good things take time and rushing the process would not come out with a better result. I mean, does a little anticipation hurt that much?

Adding to my fan(atic)-like excitement of a release date being set, the front page of the official site has been refurbished, and now has a white background. It contains an image which might give some indication of where the cover art may go:

5/12/04: NEW DATES, BOOKING AGENCY

There are new dates for NSW South Coast. Details can be found in the tour section. Also in news, I recently stumbled upon Cog's new booking agent, The Atlas Agency.

11/11/04: TRACKLIST, SOUNDS LIKE LIES UP

There had been a confirmed tracklist, not in order, for the album, corresponding with the end of the recording. The list is:

Real Life
Anarchy OK
Silence is Violence
Resonate
Run
Charades
Spine
Doors
The River Song
My Enemy
Naming the Elephant
Moshiach (US release only)

also, Sounds Like Lies is up again, with acting webmaster Ash.

6/11/04: SHOWS CANCELLED, SOUNDS LIKE LIES DOWN, MOSHIACH ADDED

There seems to have been shitloads of things happening in Cogland since i last updated, most of which you probably already know, but anyway... The shows at Toukley, Loxton and Adelaide Uni have been cancelled for unknown reasons, outside the band's control.

Also, the premier Cog fan website, Sounds Like Lies is temporarily down, due to a server change. When it comes back, it will be updated by the resident metalhead, Ash (the normal webmaster, Shawn, is awaiting a new computer), who also has a Butterfly Effect website, Without Perception, and a Dillinger Escape Plan website.

There is another song to be added to the songlist, for the album: Moshiach. Cog are redoing this Just Visiting Part One song for the album, particularly if there is a US release/deal.

29/10/04: BRACE YOURSELF BACK ONLINE

At www.braceyourself.tk, OGT has reposted his website. All areas are up except the forum.

15/10/04: STUDIO DIARY

On the official site (www.cog.com.au) the bandmembers are writing diary entries from the recording studio, along with around 30 pictures (so far). What important info i can gather is that they are trying to get Resonating done which suggests that this is a song planned to be the first radio single, though thats just my speculation.

14/10/04: COG AT THE INAGURAL PYRAMID ROCK FESTIVAL

Good news for Melbourne fans, Cog is playing on New Year's Eve at a festival on Phillip Island

(from Beat Magazine)

This New Years Eve, Phillip Island will host the very first Pyramid Rock Festival - a one night music festival with acts ranging from hip hop to rock and blues & roots on the main stage, and world class electronica from leading Australian dance acts in the Dance tent. So far the line up includes Magic Dirt, Dallas Crane, The Casanovas, COG, Antiskeptic and Offcuts with more to be announced soon! The festival will be an all ages event with entertainment from midday on December 31 through till 7am on January 1. It's being helf on a private coastal property (ten minutes drive from Cowes) with sweeping majestic views over the south coast of Phillip Island, including Pyramid Rock and Cape Woolamai. The Main Stage lies at the base of a natural ampitheatre with the ocean as a backdrop. Camping will be available, and there'll be public transport for Melbourne residents. Early bird tickets are $55 on sale Monday October 18 through Ticketmaster and Greville.

3/10/04: FULL EAST COAST TOUR

It seems that Cog have decided to do a full (does 9 gigs count as full?) tour of the east coast and Adelaide. The info is in the tour section of the website. For those on the Central Coast, you finally don't have to travel to Newcastle for a gig and instead Newcastle fans have to make their way down to the Central Coast, as Cog is playing at Toukley. Mona Vale also sees its firt Cog gig in a while. There is one all ages gig, at Adelaide Uni. It starts on the 18th at Toukley and finishes on the 4th December at the Zoo in Brisbane. Locations include: Loxton, Adelaide, Melbourne, Canberra, Mona Vale, Sydney, Toukley (Central Coast), Byron Bay, Brisbane, Surfers Paridise.

25/9/04: GIG AT THE ZOO

Another gig has been added, now to the benefit of human beings and other creatures in Brisbane, at the Zoo on 4th December. Perhaps we may see a gig in Canberra, Adelaide, or maybe even Perth the week after that?

Also in news, the song Doors is reportedly going to be split into two parts on the forthcoming album.

16/9/04: BREAKING NEWS!!! COG SIGNS TO DIFRNT MUSIC

Cog has officially signed to indie label Difrnt Music. Cog will be recording their album in Weed, California between 20th September and 5th November, and have acquired the competent services of THE Sylvia Massy (Tool, System of A Down, REM etc.). In news that should have been reported earlier, Cog signed to Aloha Management in July.

This has brought about, also, a show that will be staged at the Gaelic Club on 20th November and at Corner Hotel on 27th, plus more to be announced later.

15/8/04: GREAT SHOW, NEW SONG (DOORS)

And despite a shortened set at the Utopia show, Cog played like the gods they are, and theres a new song to add to the list! It's called Doors, and its probably the longest song out of the newbies so far. Of the others Brace rocked the house down, I had a chat with their guitarist and singer. Break From Fear was psycho as usual, and the new stuff is sounding good. Daysend anf Frankenbok had a mosh going, though the music was pretty straightforward metal. Frankenbok got a few from the crowd, including the singer from Brace who was at the time enjoying a drink, to sing their closer.

The revised songlist for the upcoming album, now filled is: Real Life, River Song, Run, The Spine, Charade (different name, plus melody and lyrics), Resonating, Naming the Elephant, Silence is Violence, Doors.

13/8/04: BLACK FRIDAY, A TIME TO THANK SATAN

Indeed, i'd like to thank Shawn, who is the webmaster for the oh so exquisite Sounds Like Lies Cog fansite, for constructing the new header probably gracing you're eyes at this very moment. A feat of Adobe Photoshop, far advanced than anything else i've conjured up in the way of headers for this site. IN the meantime, i'm pumping myself up for Cog, Brace, Daysend and the rest tomorrow for the Utopia show. More worthwhile news, on the other hand, would inform us that this thread includes many questions asked by Cog fans, most of which have been answered by the good Lucius Borich drummer boy himself.

And as I drift into the wind, scattering debris over landscapes beings can only wish to touch, a thought meandering on an open plain, breathless and divine, As one among the minions, I wish all of you a good Black Friday.

25/7/04: ALL AGES: CONFIRMED

Its official, Utopia have started putting out flyers and www.cog.com.au has posted the gig. It is consequently also up in the tours section now.

24/7/04: OH MY GOD!!! AN ALL AGES GIG!!!

According to this thread, and Drum Media, Cog is playing a gig at Sydney Uni's Manning Bar on 14th august, with 5 other bands including Brace for (apparently) Utopia's 25th anniversary show. I have some doubt about this because Faster Louder's gig guide reports a Utopia 25th anniversary show at annandale hotel with completely different bands on 6th August. However, seeing as people have been saying that Utopia are already selling tickets for $20 for the show I may just check up on this. I will report (and add to tours section) when there is more solid evidence. Also, some news I probably should have posted earlier, Overload has been renamed the Spine. The tracklisting for the upcoming album now reads: Anarchy OK, Real Life, Charade (different name and lyrics), Resonating, Silence Is Violence, Run, Naming The Elephant, The River Song, The Spine plus one more untitled song.

15/7/04: NEW FORUM

I am here to inform the masses of Cog about a new inclusion to the Cog forum matrix. At www.sounds-like-lies-forum.tk (which is linked in the intro page of this site) there is a new forum where you can inform other about your thoughts on Cog.

28/6/04: WHAT??? NEWS AT PSEUDO???

whoa, dude!! I've been bludging my ass off for the past 5 and a half weeks, and during this period many things have happened to Cog! Firstly, another gig is happening, this Saturday, in fact, 3rd July at the Parramatta Roxy Theatre (see tour section for details). This is yet another over 18s show. When will they do an all ages show, i do not know. They played at Shoreshocked, I know, but no-one found out about that until very shortly before, so only people going to their website knew. And they were ogin to play at some festival at the RoundHouse next month, but they cancelled that. Do they have some kind of vendetta against non-adults? Is that it??? Anyway, in other news, there are new samples at www.cog.com.au, with one new song, The River Song, along with Resonating and Silence is Violence. It sounds amazingly well produced, but the bass delay lick of Resonating sound dangerously like the bass delay lick at the start of Another Brick in the wall Part 2 by Pink Floyd. Also, I have been working on a fairly massive Cog FAQ which I will post when I finish it. If you know virtually anything about Cog, add me on MSN (fretforyourcontract@hotmail.com) so I can fire questions at you without having to email Cog themselves.

14/5/04: AND HE SPONTANEOUSLY DECIDED TO POST SOME NEWS

it is quite true, after about 3 weeks of inactivity I have decided to inform you good people of another song being added to the list of new songs on the upcoming album. This song is called "Overload". It has been played at recent gigs and samples of it can be found on the Official website. the other song titles are in the news post before this one. Also, 3 new tour dates, 1 in Coffs Harbour and another 2 in Queenland have been scheduled for July. Further datails in the Tour section.

25/4/04: TRACKLISTING RELEASED, NEW ARTICLE

There has been a tracklisting released, not necessarily in order. It is:

Anarchy OK, Real Life, Charade (different name and lyrics), Resonating, Silence Is Violence, Run, Naming The Elephant, The River Song, The Spine, 2 more untitled songs.

also, there is a new live review of the gig in Canberra on the 8th.
