Special track on
COMPUTING with EMOTIONS
The Palms South Beach Hotel

In cooperation with
The American Association for Artificial Intelligence
Call for Papers
Emotions play an important role in distinguishing humans
from machines. It is only natural to wonder if machines
can have emotions just as humans do. Attributes such as beliefs, desires,
and intentions have been well studied in the past decade
and have been implemented successfully
by incorporating them in agent frameworks. Work on emotions
and affective computing in general are only beginning to appear now.
In this special track called COMPUTING with EMOTIONS
we provide opportunities for researchers
to investigate into the nature of emotions and provide
models of emotions that can be implemented on machines.
In particular, we would like to solicit papers focussing on
the role of emotions in multiagent systems.
Topics of interest may include, but not restricted to:
- Formal models of emotions
- Meaning of emotions.
- Specifing emotional behaviour.
- Primitive and composite emotions.
- Computational models of emotions; models for anger, fear, distress,
happiness, disgust, surprise, etc.
- Emotions in multiagent systems
- Emotions in intelligent agents.
- Recognizing emotions, synthesizing emotions,
and learning emotions.
- Role of emotions in individual and cooperative problem solving.
- Applications
- Mental architecuture for emotion driven agents.
- Implementing emotions in agents; emotions in BDI and non-BDI agents.
- Emotion driven graphical characters.
- Emotion driven robots; emotion driven interface agents.
- Programming issues: language constructs for programming with emotions.
