Prasant is a postdoctoral fellow and a visiting researcher at the Swedish Institute of Computer Science (SICS), Swedish ICT Stockholm with Prof. Thiemo Voigt; and is a member of the Uppsala VINN Excellence Center for Wireless Sensor Networks (WISENET). He received his Ph.D. from the University of New South Wales (UNSW) Sydney AUS in 2012, and B.E. (First class with Honors) from Sambalpur University India in 2006, both in the field of computer science and engineering.

Prasant has worked on E-health/pharmacy solutions, location sensing/tracking technologies (for applications in WSN, robotics, demining) and deployment/characterization projects (for underground mines, precision agriculture). Currently, he is interested in the problem of energy efficient location sensing with GPS, smart antenna designs, and information processing techniques with the focus on sensornets for CPS/IoT coupling. He is also keen in the implementation of sensornet systems/testbeds that involves their design, prototyping and deployment. His projects have been funded by AusAID (Australian Government), CSIRO, and ERCIM-EEIG & Marie Curie COFUND of the European Commission under the EU FP7 Programme. His work has been recognized by a number of awards and honors, of which the more prestigious are the AusAID Australia Awards Leadership Program 2008, and the ERCIM Alain Bensoussan / Marie Curie Fellowship 2012.

Prasant has over 6 years of experience in technology development; and has worked in different roles and capabilities for: Keane Inc. (now a unit of NTT Data Corporation), India; CSIRO ICT Centre and CSE UNSW, AUS; and Red Lotus Technologies, USA. He has been a visiting researcher/visitor at the iMinds-IBCN research labs - Universiteit Gent, Belgium; NICTA, Sydney AUS; and TIFR, Mumbai India. He has served as a TPC member of: IEEE RTSS 2013, IEEE SenseApp 2013, REALWSN 2013, IEEE DCOSS 2013 and IEEE ISSNIP 2013. He was also the Editor of the CIRCUIT newsletter and the Vice-chair of the GOLD Affinity group of the IEEE NSW Section (2012); and the Chair of the IEEE UNSW Student Branch (2010-2011).
