|Sanjay K. Jha is a Professor and Head of the Network Group at the School of Computer Science and Engineering at the University of New South Wales. This group founded by Sanjay in July 1999, has become a leading network research group and consists of 4 academic staff members, several postdoctoral fellows and over 20 PhD and Masters by Research students. Prof. Jha holds a Ph.D. degree from the University of Technology, Sydney, Australia. His research activities cover a wide range of topics in networking including Wireless Sensor Networks, Adhoc/Community wireless networks, Resilience and Multicasting in IP Networks and Security protocols for wired/wireless networks. Sanjay has published over 140 articles in high quality journals and conferences. He is the principal author of the book Engineering Internet QoS and a co-editor of the book Wireless Sensor Networks: A Systems Perspective. Sanjay is supervising
a large number of graduate students (graduated 10 Phd candidates so far). He was
also participating in the wireless networking project at the
Smart Internet CRC as a project
leader. He was associated with the Network and Pervasive Computing (NPC) program
of NICTA as a seconded staff.
He has been working as a consultant for major organizations such as Canon Research Lab (CISRA), DSTO, Lucent and Fujitsu. In his previous job, he was a Lecturer at the School of Computing Sciences, University of Technology (UTS), Sydney. He also worked as Systems Engineer for the National Informatics Centre, New Delhi. He was a visiting scholar at the Distributed Computing and Communications Laboratory, Computer Science Department, Columbia University, New York and a visiting professor with IIT-Bombay. He has also been a visiting researcher with Fujitsu Australia Ltd, Sydney and CSIRO ICT Center, Australia.
Sanjay was a Member-at-Large, Technical Committee on Computer Communications (TCCC), IEEE Computer Society for a number of years. He an associate editor of the IEEE Transactions on Mobile Computing (TMC) and a member of editorial advisory board of Wiley/ACM International Journal of Network Management. He has served on program committees of several high quality conferences. Sanjay was the General Chair of ACM Sensys 2007 symposium. He also served as the Technical Program Committee Chair of IEEE Local Computer Networks -LCN2004 and ATNAC04 conferences and co-chair and general chair of the Ements-1 and Emnets-II workshops respectively. Currently he is on the steering committee of the ACM Sensys and Emnets. He is a senior member of IEEE and has been involved with IEEE Computer Chapter NSW, Australia as chair/secretary for number of years.
