Supplement to Minutes of Teaching Committee Meeting on 21 May 1999

• Proposal to change the credit point value of COMP9242 Advanced Operating Systems: Points brought out in discussion: Feedback from students clearly indicates that the workload in this subject is significantly higher than in other comparable COMP subjects. On the other hand, feedback also indicates that the subject is appreciated and well-received by the students who take it. Enrolments in the subject confirm this. A special circumstance that applies to the subject is that unlike any other COMP coursework subject, it is only open to students who have obtained a credit in COMP3231 (or COMP9201).

  The Committee resolved that, rather than tinker with the content of a clearly successful subject, it would be worthwhile to try increasing the credit point value of the subject. This would mean that this subject would count as two electives for students taking it.

  The subject will of course count as an ordinary 15 cp/ 6 uoc subject from the point of view of teaching load.
